This summer, our Jimbunas kids took off on a brand-new adventure: ten days in sunny California! Every day was packed with discoveries—new places, new people, new challenges.

今年の夏休み、ジンブナーズの小学校高学年キッズたちは、アメリカ・カリフォルニア州オレンジカウンティで10日間を過ごしました。日本を飛び出し、初めての経験ばかりに出会う毎日。新しい出会いや挑戦がぎゅっと詰まった、特別な夏となりました。

Joining a Local Church Summer School

現地のサマースクールに参加

One highlight of the program was joining a summer school hosted by a local church. Our kids played games, joined activities, and learned side by side with American children. What stood out most was how naturally they shared their opinions in English—a reflection of the confidence they’ve built at Jimbunas.

今回のプログラムのメインは、現地の教会で行われたサマースクールへの参加でした。アメリカの子どもたちと一緒にゲームやアクティビティに取り組み、自然に英語で交流する姿が印象的でした。ジンブナーズで育んできた「自分の意見を発信する力」が、ここでも大きく発揮されていました。

大学キャンパスツアー

We also toured a California university campus. The wide-open spaces, impressive libraries, and lively student atmosphere sparked the kids’ imaginations. For the first time, they could picture what it might feel like to study abroad in the future.

「日本とは異なるキャンパスの雰囲気を感じて、世界で学ぶことを夢見てほしい」そんな思いで今回の旅に組み込んだ大学キャンパスツアー。大学内の図書館、教室、カフェテリア、そして中でもサイエンス学科のツアーに大興奮の子どもたち。

キャンパスツアーの終わりに、 “I want to study abroad! - 僕、留学してみたい！” という子どもたちの感想を聞いた時、とても嬉しい気持ちになりました。

アメリカに限らず、世界に目を向けてほしい！そんな思いが子どもたちに経験を通して伝わったことをとても嬉しく思います。

Of course, no trip to California is complete without a little fun. From the beach and Disneyland to a Dodgers game and Joshua Tree, every moment was unforgettable.

But even more important than the places was the growth we saw in the kids. They gained confidence, practiced English in real situations, and discovered they can do more than they imagined.

This summer in California was more than a trip—it was a big step forward. We’re excited to see how they’ll continue to grow in the next program!
